The Center for the Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) is a board-led, for-not-profit organization registered in Ethiopia under the Civil Societies Law 1113/2019 with registry number 4307. CARD acquired its legal personality on 24 July 2019.

​CARD aspires to see Ethiopia where democratic culture flourished on human rights values and has been working with a mission to empower citizens and groups of citizens to ensure their ability to promote and defend human rights and build democratic governance in Ethiopia.

Center for the Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) is looking for three interns to assist with the implementation of its programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of CARD’s Program Manager and Project Officers, interns will be responsible for the day to day technical support of any and all related tasks of the current project. Tasks include but aren’t limited to facilitating contact with relevant government offices, schools and universities, scheduling and facilitating training and public stakeholder meetings and following up on project activities in and out of Addis Ababa.

Competencies Needed

  • Core Competencies: effective communication; effective planning and hosting of public events; ability to learn and adapt; commitment to deadlines and to work under pressure.
  • Essential Functional Competencies: a working understanding of human rights, political contexts, safety and security needs of target groups, and ability to form networks and partnerships.

Qualifications required

Education: Fresh graduates from an accredited university in Ethiopia in law or other social sciences  

Experience: 0 years, prior internship experience working in project teams in appreciated Languages: Good command of the English language and one other local language
