Did the Wolo Peoples Democratic Party fail to win any electoral constituency in any region?

The Wollo People's Democratic Party was one of the political parties that competed in Ethiopia's 7th general election. Originating from the Amhara Region, the party operated from Dessie and contested elections in several regions, including the Addis Ababa Regional Council constituency.

A Facebook post shared by the page "Wollo Addis" on June 22, 2026, claimed that the "The Key Symbol Wollo Party" failed to win any electoral constituency. The post said that the party, which used the key symbol and competed in Dessie with 15 candidates, did not win a single constituency. The post received more than 1,400 likes within a few hours.

To verify the claim, the CARD Fact-Checking Team contacted the Wollo People's Democratic Party coordinator and reviewed the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) official election results. The team also cross-checked a video shared by Fana Television on July 21, which reported NEBE's final election results. The verification found that the Wollo People's Democratic Party won four regional council seats in the Amhara, Addis Ababa, Southwest Ethiopia, and Central Ethiopia regions.
