CARD Holds Dissemination Workshop on Social Media Conversations Around Ethiopia's National Dialogue

Key stakeholders gather to discuss findings from deep-dive reports examining online discourse

The Center for Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) held a dissemination workshop on August 26, 2026, to share key findings from its deep-dive reports examining conversations surrounding Ethiopia's National Dialogue Process on social media.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders from the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC), international partners, civil society organizations and other relevant institutions. The participation of an ENDC Commissioner and representatives of international partners enriched the discussion and created a valuable opportunity to reflect on the role of social media in shaping public conversations around the National Dialogue Process.

During the workshop, CARD presented findings from four thematic deep-dive reports developed through its ongoing monitoring of social media conversations. The reports focused on key issues related to the National Dialogue Process, including:

Participants reflected on how systematic social media monitoring can contribute to a better understanding of emerging narratives, public concerns, misinformation, and the broader dynamics of online discourse.
