Call for Applications: Project Officer
The Center for Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) is a board-led, non-profit, non-governmental, civil society organization registered under the Authority for Civil Society Organizations with registry number 4307, according to the Civil Societies Law 1113/2019. CARD acquired its legal personality on 24 July 2019. CARD aspires to see Ethiopia being a place where human rights are respected and democratic culture flourished. Since its foundation, CARD has been operating with a mission of advancing a conducive civic, media, and digital space for the respect of human rights and cultivation of democratic mass culture in Ethiopia.
Position Summary:
CARD is seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate for the position of Project Officer to undertake the following responsibilities, including;
Prepare project plans, implement activities and prepare budget reports of various activities of CARD on the assigned projects.
Assist other project officers in the preparation of project plans and reports as well as implementation of project activities as needed.
Prepare terms of reference (TOR) for training, consultation meeting, panel discussion and any other activities before implementation and write a detailed report after.
Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly action plans and reports as well as prepare terms of reference.
Support in the preparation of reports, background papers, studies and concept notes.
Support and mentor CARD’s interns and undertake any other activities assigned by immediate supervisor.
Duration: One year with possible extension.
Salary: Negotiable.
Education: The Project Officer position requires educational background with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as; law, political science, journalism and communications, management, project management, business administration, and or related social sciences areas along with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is generally required, but an advanced degree or specific certifications may be preferred.
Experience:
The position requires strong experience in diverse areas, including;
Planning, coordination and implementation project activities, particularly in CSO contexts focusing on civic engagement, youth and women empowerment and media literacy;
Familiarity and skills in communications and advocacy, with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write reports, management of social media platforms and stakeholder engagement.
Excellent technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other project management tools is usually expected.
Strong organizational and time management skills are also needed to manage projects effectively and any other projects that CARD is implementing Excellent problem-solving skills required identifying and addressing potential issues and risks is crucial.
