#UnderTheEthiopianSky: CARD to air Documentaries on Contentious Issues of Ethiopia

The documentary series developed in Amharic by the Center for the Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) on various contentious issues in Ethiopia will begin to be aired on Arts Television on Thursdays at 7:30 pm starting today, May 11, 2023.

CARD facilitated the production of seven 30-minute long episodes under the theme of "Under the Sky of Ethiopia: Articulating Contentious Issues through Dialogue" by selecting the topics through the participation of netizens, experts' research and participation, as well as the reflections of diverse youth selected from the regional states, and will be broadcasted weekly on Arts Television starting today.

The timetable for the documentary episodes is presented below.

May 11 - "Bad Peace”, “Good War"

May 18 - History and Narratives

May 25 - Addis Ababa: Between Development and Controversy

June 1 - "Arresut": Controversies over Administrative Boundaries

June 8 - Structure of the Federalism: Greedy Generous?

June 15 - Regional Special Forces: In Competetive Ethnic Politics

June 22 - Intergovernmental Relations

The documentary episodes are produced under the civic engagement program, which aims to create a platform where citizens can discuss contentious issues and seek solutions to see an Ethiopia where democratic culture has flourished. Our center believes that the platform and the recommendations raised in the discussion within the episodes will be a good asset for the national dialogue that Ethiopia is set to launch.

The project titled "Under the Sky of Ethiopia: Articulating Contentious Issues through Dialogue" is generously funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
