CARD joins hands with 8 other CSOs in Ethiopia to make a call for peaceful resolution of conflict in Amhara region

The Council of Ministers in Ethiopia has declared a state of emergency and violent conflicts are reportedly escalating in the Amhara region. Previously, CARD the Center for the Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) has confirmed that internet is cut off in the region. Today, CARD joins hands with other local CSOs to make a call for a peaceful resolution of the conflicts in the region. 

The CSOs underlined "the fact that violent conflicts are taking root and expanding from time to time across Ethiopia, the measures undertaking to stop violent conflicts should not compromise the safety of innocent civilians, the protection of human rights and freedoms of the people; we also recognize that the root causes of the conflict should be a subject of all inclusive dialogue and and that they need to be addressed for a sustainable peacebuilding.
